The River Acheron rises in the mountainous regions of Ioannina Prefecture. It covers a distance of 64 km and it flows through a narrow and imposing canyon formed by the mountains of Paramythia and Souli. The region is called "Acheron Springs", and it is characterized by a divine beauty of particular ecological interest (protected by Natura 2000). Acheron begins from Gliki, where the nature and the carefreeness rule the world of living; its vivid crystal waters create wonderful gorges, ponds, and picturesque shelters within a beautiful ecosystem. There are plenty of activities visitors can enjoy here. Apart from hiking, visitors’ favourite activities are also canoe-kayak, rafting , horse-riding, and flying fox.
